It’s been three weeks since John Newhoff and I attended PauseOnError and I’m still unpacking from the experience (literally and figuratively). Not only did I have the opportunity to take part in some great sessions, the amount of knowledge gained from others in the FileMaker community is invaluable.
This year marks the second virtual Claris Engage, a conference formerly known as DevCon, and widely attended by FileMaker developers, near and far. I’ve attended many of the events already and below is a short recap of what we’ve seen so far, and what we have to look forward to in the future.
Registration for the annual developers conference for FileMaker and Claris Connect has opened and it will be virtual again this year. While I’ll miss the opportunity for a bit of travel and to see my fellow developers, the Engage Beyond 2021 virtual conference will make it a lot easier for the entire Portage Bay team to participate. This year, Claris has extended the timeline for Engage Beyond and we’ll be having great learning opportunities all year long.
The annual FileMaker developers conference (Devcon) is coming up soon. Something we always look forward to at Portage Bay, this year the conference is in Dallas, Texas. Thank goodness for air conditioning!
Late last month, 1,600 FileMaker developers descended on Phoenix for the annual FileMaker developers conference, this year held at the Marriott Desert Springs Resort. I understand attendance was up by about 300 people this year and the hotel ran out of rooms a couple of months ago.
This spring and summer are shaping up to be pretty interesting for FileMaker and 4th Dimension developers from an education and skills development perspective. I have three training seminars and developers conferences on the schedule.
This year’s DevCon consisted of three days of sessions, each broken up into four one-hour chunks, with plenty of time for lunch and breaks. This more relaxed schedule was great, as it allowed for time to decompress and digest the wealth of information in the sessions.
