Make Sure You and Your Staff Software Stay Relevant

As a member of Gen X, who cherishes a foundational essence of individuality gleaned from pivotal influences like The Breakfast Club, I surprisingly found myself tempted to brush off the vocal voices from the mainly Millennial and Gen Z crowds. But I realized it was because such idealism – that I much aspire to – didn’t mesh with my own early workforce experiences in the corporate world. As I’ve listened more, and worked on shaking off my presuppositions, I’ve found these humanity-centered ideas and input refreshing, and achievable.

RazorSQL

Developer’s have been able to run SQL queries against their FileMaker data for many years. In the early days it required a 3rd party plugin, but since version 12 we’ve been able to run SQL Select statements against our FileMaker data with the native Execute SQL function. RazorSQL can be a big help.

Manuscript (formerly Fogbugz)

Manuscript, formerly Fogbugz, is an online software management tool made by Fog Creek (Stack Overflow, Trello, Glitch) that aids with project management and issue tracking. Within it’s full-featured package, users can submit bug tickets and feature requests, while managers can implement the Agile methodology to track projects and sprints.

Impossible Spaces in Virtual Reality

I have been fascinated with impossible places. Things like the Doctor Who Tardis, Hypercubes, and M.C. Escher’s impossible objects, lead me to happy daydreams. Lately I have been wondering, would it be possible to create some of these physically impossible spaces. Could I create them in Virtual Reality (VR), and if so, what would they feel like?

Travel & Technology

From a technology standpoint, I would say traveling in Korea and Japan was perhaps actually easier than the US, since sometimes the airport and hotel WiFi networks in the US are only barely fast enough to get anything done.
